CONTEMPORARY
BEDROOM FURNITURE IN MAPLE
Originally appearing
in the May 1996 issue of "House" magazine, this unit was designed
and built for Jerry Swartz, inventor of the UPC scanning gun and
founder/C.E.O. of Symbol Technologies. The side panels conceal a wet
bar and stereo components, while the sliding shoji screens offer yet more
storage behind the bed. Cantilevered nightstands pull out to reveal a touch
screen panel for controlling this "high tech" bedroom. The center section of
the birds eye maple footboard houses a television that automatically rises,
and then swivels so it can be seen from any point in the room.

ART DECO BEDROOM UNIT
This cherry and ebonized maple piece could easily pass itself off as an
entertainment center. Situated across from the bed, it serves several
functions. Besides being a woman's dresser, it also conceals a TV while
lighted open shelving showcase the owners display pieces.
